Top Automotive Industry Podcasts to Listen To

Businessman is Listening to Podcasts

Try to google podcasts focusing on the automotive industry and you’ll be overwhelmed with choices in a matter of seconds. To be fair, that’s to be entirely expected. The automotive industry has spawned some of the most loyal and enthusiastic fan bases in the world. It comes as no surprise then that there is a wide variety of automotive industry podcasts to listen to.

If you’re an avid car enthusiast yourself, you probably subscribe to automotive newsletters, buy magazines, and follow blogs that review and compare cars. Then you have technological aspects of the automotive industry that are equally enticing for most people. Innovation and connected cars never fail to amuse us and keep us wondering what’s next. There’s simply too much content to keep track of at times, which makes quality podcasts a must-have.

Automotive podcasts wrap up all of your car-related interests in a neat format that’s easy to follow. They’re probably not going to replace your other news sources, but instead, make your information gathering more succinct. The only question is how to separate the best automotive industry podcasts from the less-worthy ones.

What Makes an Excellent Podcast?

There are many different metrics people use to judge their favorite podcasts. Some people prefer podcasts with regular upload schedules, others enjoy the ones that focus on a single topic within the wide landscape of the automotive industry.

On the other hand, there are people who base their decisions solely on the podcast’s rating, and to them, there’s a world of difference between podcasts with a 4.5-star rating and a 5-star rating. Then there are those who like podcasts that touch on different topics, such as personal finance in relation to buying cars.

In reality, there is no single thing that makes for an excellent podcast. Creative and humorous hosts certainly help, and so does their lineup of guests. There really is no accounting for taste.

That’s why we included a list of favorite podcasts that cover different topics in the industry with hosts from various backgrounds. It’s up to you to start listening and decide which podcasts are worth your time. Between all the shows we listed, there are thousands of podcasts to listen to. Plenty to help you decide.

Automotive Podcasts You Should Listen To

The Smoking Tire

The podcast listeners know that The Smoking Tire is the perfect place to get all of their automotive-related news. Matt Farah (who also appears on the Spike’s Car Radio podcast) and Zack Klapman discuss racing, industry news, and everything in between. It’s one of the more popular podcasts among car enthusiasts, so make sure to listen in.

Individual episodes drop twice a week and last for about an hour and a half. Look through their list of episodes to find a wealth of industry-related content.

CarCast

CarCast is a bi-weekly automotive industry podcast with Adam Carolla, Bill Goldberg, and Matt “The Motorator” D’Andria. It’s one of the most popular podcasts (and one of our own personal favorite podcasts) in the industry.

The CarCast podcast listeners know they have a variety of topics to look forward to. You can hear about the future of the industry, new car buying, car comparisons, and much more — all in one place.

The two weekly podcast episodes usually last a bit under an hour. It’s just enough time to get all the news that you need.

Spike’s Car Radio

Have you ever wanted to see a Seinfeld spinoff where Jerry joins the comedian and automotive enthusiast Spike Feresten for a cup of coffee and car debate? That’s exactly what you’ll find on Spike’s Car Radio podcast. Besides Jerry Seinfeld and Spike Feresten, you’ll hear more from MotorTrend’s Jonny Lieberman, The Smoking Tire’s Matt Farah, and everyone’s favorite lawyer Paul Zuckerman.

They already have a comprehensive list of guests under their belts. Check out their library of podcasts for more content.

You can enjoy one episode of Spike’s Car Radio per week for an hour.

Everyday Driver Car Debate

Do you find disagreement and debate to your liking? Everyday Driver Car Debate is sure to sate your thirst for arguments over car comparisons, personal builds, and other points of interest for the average car enthusiast.

Your hosts are Todd Deeken and Paul Schmucker, both suffering from an equally powerful obsession with all things cars.

They put out two podcast episodes per week, both lasting for about an hour.

Car Talk Podcast

The Car Talk Podcast is more on the humorous side than it is serious or informative. The “entry bar” is fairly low. You don’t have to understand much about the industry to have a good laugh as mechanics (and brothers) Tom Magliozzi and Ray Magliozzi take calls from viewers who are having problems with their cars.

You can catch the Car Talk Podcast once a week, and it usually won’t take up more than an hour of your time.

Auto Remarketing Podcast

There’s hardly a better source of automotive news than from the mouths of the industry executives. Join the Auto Remarketing Podcast for insider information from the industry leaders, especially pertaining to the used car market.

The hosts Joe Overby and Nick Zulovich welcome innovators, thought leaders, and industry executives on a weekly basis.

What Is a Podcast Directory?

Knowing which podcasts to listen to is important, but what matters even more is where you listen to them. Obviously, you can find thousands of podcasts on web pages. Sites like YouTube host video podcasts of almost all the podcast creators you can find. Between YouTube and SoundCloud, you are certain to find endless hours of content. However, they’re not nearly as practical as podcast directories.

Podcast directories are basically podcast apps you can download to your device. They can be either mobile apps or programs you download to PCs. They’re incredibly practical as they allow you to download podcasts for offline listening, make custom playlists, and build your own library of podcasts. Nothing beats having custom playlists of all the favorite episodes of your favorite podcasts.

Among podcast directories, the most popular ones include:

  • Google Podcasts
  • Amazon Music
  • Spotify
  • Stitcher
  • Apple Music.

Now you’re fully equipped to start building your own library of podcasts to listen to on the go.
